Mildew Text Photoshop tutorial



Finished product:

Mildew text

Step 1:

Create your text using any font that you want. We used TacoFestiva.

Step 2:

Duplicate the current layer and rotate it like so:

Step 3:

Hide the 1st layer so that only sideways text is showing. Ctrl + click the sideways layer to select the text.

Step 4:

Press "Q" to enter quick mask mode. Now go to filter > stylize > wind. Select "Wind" as the method and "From the right" as the direction then press OK.

Step 5:

Press Ctrl + F to repeat that wind filter, then press "Q" again to exit quick mask mode. If done properly, you will have an empty selection that looks like this:

Step 6: Create a new layer below all of your type layers. Choose a green color, then press Ctrl + back space to fill the selection in the new layer with green.

Step 7: Now make the original type layer visible again, then take the layer that you just filled and rotate it so that it fits perfectly underneath the original type layer.

If done properly you should now have mildew text like this:
